What are Adrenal Glands?

A pair of endocrine glands that perch one on top of each kidney. The inner parts of each adrenal secrete adrenaline; the outer parts, each in three layers, secrete a range of steroid hormones, especially cortisol, corticosterone, aldosterone and the male sex hormone (androgen) dehydroepiandrosterone.
