Alcohol: How Much Is Too Much?

Drinking alcohol can be an enjoyable way to loosen up at dinner parties or relax after a long workweek. However, alcohol is often, and can very easily be abused. So where do you draw the line?

According to Drinkaware.co.uk, an informative website aimed at changing the UKs drinking habits, these three helpful measurement facts will help you keep your alcohol intake in check.

  1. The government recommends a daily unit consumption of 2-3 for a woman and 3-4 units for a man.
  2. A unit is equivalent to 8 grams of alcohol. In beer or cider that is about half a pint. With regard to spirits, a unit is around 25ml. Therefore, a whole pint of beer is equivalent to 3 units.
  3. Binge drinking means drinking more than double the daily recommendations as illustrated in the first point.
