What is Arthritis?

The word rheumatism is widely used and has come to mean any pain in the moving structures of the body such as the muscles, joints and bones. Those conditions which primarily cause disease in the joints are collectively called arthritis. In the arthritis group of diseases osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the chief ailments. Gout and rheumatic fever are related disorders.
