What is Ascites?


Ascites is an abnormal build up of fluid in the abdominal cavity. The abdomen swells and becomes tense and uncomfortable. There may be shortness of breath, regurgitation of food, and loss of appetite. Ascites may occur in diseases of the heart, liver, lungs or kidneys.
