What are Bat Ears?

Prominent protruding ears are called "bat ears". They are harmless, but may be cosmetically unacceptable. An operation called pinnaplasty or otoplasty can be performed to pin back the ears by taking a wedge of skin and tissue from behind the ear, and then the tissue is sewn down again.
