Group Training: Body Pump Classes
Group training has become the 'in' thing. It is offered at almost any gym that has a studio and is a great way to burn calories, build endurance, make a few new buddies and have fun doing it all at the same time.
Body pump classes as well as classes where the group performs high repetitions using a selection of light weights and bars is an excellent way to boost your cardiovascular and resistance training.
Many people, predominantly women, participate in the class because it is an all round activity that tones and tightens the muscles and gets the fat loss process going. Which, of course, is what most women are trying to achieve with their fitness program.
A study, which was published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, determined the calorie burning effects of body pump classes. After monitoring thirty people, fifteen men and fifteen women, they found that on average, the participants burned around 265 calories in just one workout.
