What Is a Browser?
Surfing the web is made possible by web browsers. Browsers are basically software programs that allow you to search for and view various kinds of information on the web, such as web sites, video, audio, etc.
Some of the most popular web browsers around today include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. The Lynx browser is the most frequently used text-only browser and has been adapted to serve the needs of the vision-impaired.
Different browsers render web pages slightly differently. Some sites may require a certain browser to function correctly and some sites may not function at all with some browsers.
