Cardio or Weights First?
Cardio or weight training first? It's the question on many gym enthusiasts' mind. Let us help clear out the confusion and let you choose the best method for the best results.
When it comes to exercising correctly, everybody has his or her own opinion about the right way. One of the most common arguments is which do you do first, cardiovascular or weight training? The answer to this happens to depend upon your goals. . .
In a perfect world, the ideal thing to do would be to have your cardio and weight training days on separate days. For instance, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays you have your weight training sessions, leaving Tuesdays and Thursdays for your cardio sessions. Alternatively, if you can go to gym twice a day, the ideal thing to do would be to perform cardio in the morning and then weight training in the afternoon or evening.
However, this in not always an option, and you have to choose which to do first. The way to go would be to begin with your weight training session, and end off with your cardiovascular session.
By doing your cardio before your weight training, you will be using up your glucose reserves for energy, and by the time you get to the weight training portion of your workout, you will have run out of energy and feel fatigued. When you begin with the weight training portion, you allow your body to use up the glucose reserves for energy to lift heavier weight loads, and by the time you hit your cardio session, your body is ready to start burning fat for energy.
