When to Consider Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure which removes fat, excess skin, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), blepharoplasty can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes — “erasing” years, and softening eye expression.
Properly done by a qualified plastic surgeon, the surgery gives the patient's eyes a more youthful appearance. Blepharoplasty can also improve vision, if a sagging eyelid obstructs the patient’s view. It is not a cure-all, however. It will not remove wrinkles or crows feet, nor will it eliminate dark circles or lift sagging brows.
