Breast Augmentation SurgeryGetting Back to NormalAfter surgery, you'll have some pain, which can be controlled by medication. You may also experience a slight burning sensation in your nipples, but this is usually temporary and will subside as bruising fades. Your stitches can be removed in a week to 10 days, but swelling may take up to six weeks to completely disappear. Avoid physical contact to your breasts until they are no longer sore; this usually takes three to four weeks. Scar tissue will be firm and pink for several months, after which time they begin to fade. For the most part some minor scarring will remain. Routine mammograms should be continued after breast augmentation. Be certain to go to a radiology center where technicians are experienced in the special techniques required to acquire a reliable x-ray of a breast with an implant. Additional x-ray views may be required, and ultrasounds may be advisable in some women. |
