What is Dementia?

A permanent acquired impairment of intellectual function that results in a marked decline in memory, language, ability, personality, spatial skills, and/or cognition (orientation, perception, reasoning, abstract thinking, and calculation). Dementia can be either static or permanent, and can result from many different causes.
