Do-It-Yourself Weddings
Learn how to save a few pennies on your wedding by simply doing it yourself.
Yes you can. There are many ways you can save money on your wedding by simply getting creative and making your own wedding items. Things like wedding favors, centerpieces, guest books, seating plans, menus, place cards, cakes and invitations can all be made by hand and add a nice, personal touch.
Wedding Stationary
Wedding invitations and wedding stationary can cost a small fortune. However, you can cut costs by making your own, stunning wedding invitations. Visit a craft or scrapbooking shop for some inspiration. These places have hundreds of ideas and all the materials you will ever need to create stunner invites. Decorate them with embellishments and charms to add a special touch.
Once you have created your wedding invites, continue to let the theme flow by making your own menus, centerpieces, place cards, thank-you cards and table seating plans.
Wedding Favors
These days wedding favors can be just about anything, from CD's burnt with songs of your choice to crafty little bookmarks and beaded key chains. Remember a wedding favor can be just about anything that says "thank you" to your guests.
Create pretty little organza bags, filled with almonds or chocolates and add a pretty ribbon. Print out your favorite poem and tie a ribbon on it for a bookmark or create a pretty envelope and fill it with flowering seeds. There are endless options to create pretty little favors from the heart.
Wedding Cakes
Wedding cakes can get very expensive; however, you can opt for something simple and sophisticated such as a tower of cupcakes instead of buying a traditional wedding cake. If you are not the greatest baker, ask one of your relatives who enjoy baking to make you the cup cake tower as your wedding gift. You can decorate each cupcake with your initials or have them iced in your wedding colors.
