What is Ectropion?

Ectropion is the out-turning of the lower eyelid, due to slackness of tissue in the eyelid with ageing or injury. Tears cannot be retained in the eye and trickle down the cheek, and there is an increased risk of eye surface infection or ulceration. Surgery can be performed to tighten up the lower lid.
