First Date Tips: Be Impressive on the First Date
First dates can be rather nerve-racking experiences. You can either spend the date enjoying your time together or really
worrying about whether the person you’re with is really into you or not. After all you want to make the best impression,
especially if you really like the person.
Here are a few guidelines you can follow that will help you make the most of your first date, and will hopefully
have your cell phone buzzing for date number two.
1. Be interesting and interactive
Nobody wants to spend an hour listening to an absolute bore. Furthermore, nobody wants to spend an hour with someone who
talks about uninteresting subjects either. So, your first priority is to find ways to be both interactive and interesting.
You want to make a lasting impression and this may be your only opportunity, so really make an effort to make a
good first impression. Try not to hit on ‘common’ topics such as the weather and show a genuine interest when
listening. What ever you do, don’t just sit there staring at your date or fidgeting with the cutlery.
2. Be yourself
Sometimes when trying to impress someone, the desire to make ourselves seem more interesting looks like a good idea at the
time. Don’t pretend you are something, or someone you are not. Your date will pick up on dishonesty, which may end your date
before its even started.
The worst thing about dishonesty is digging yourself deeper and deeper into more dishonesty, which can snowball
out of control.
3. Don’t be late
Nothing is worse than showing up for a first date only to find that your partner has left you hanging at the restaurant for
an hour. Be punctual and make sure you leave home on time to arrive at your destination on time.
4. Drink responsibly
Having a drink may make your evening more enjoyable and more sociable. But don’t forget that you are trying to
impress this person, so don’t go on an all out drinking binge.
