Fitness Myth: You Can Get a Six-pack
by Doing 100 Sit-ups a Day
Whether you do 10 sit-ups a day or 1000 sit-ups a day, your abs are not
going to rip out of your skin to reveal that sexy washboard on exercise
alone, despite this very common misconception that to get great "abs"
you need to do thousands of sit-ups. The truth to getting great abs all
depends on what you eat and how clean your diet is, therefore it's pretty
safe to say that abs are made in the kitchen.
While working out most definitely builds muscle, if you are eating badly,
the layer of fat that covers your abs will always prevent them from making
appearance on your stomach. Yes, they will grow, but they won't come out
until the layer of fat melts off. To get celebrity abs you need to have
a low body fat percentage. This is attained by following a low fat diet,
combining the correct proportions of carbs and protein into your meal
plan and yes, also exercising. Now remember, sit-ups just ain't gonna
cut it. You need to incorporate an overall weight-training program, a
consistent cardio routine, as well as abs-specific exercises such as crunches
and sit-ups to get the whole package.
Remember if you've never had abs before, don't expect them to suddenly
appear after a few workouts and a week's dieting. Remember that great
bodies take time to build, so start your beautiful bodybuilding routine
today, and in a few months you will reap the rewards and get to reveal
those awesome abs.
