How to Accessorize with Hats
Hats are great fashion accessories, and one of the simplest ways to jazz up your outfit. Hats can be cute, playful or fashionably chic — and accessorizing your look with them makes a bold fashion statement.
Whether you choose plain or patterned, chic or simple, adding a hat is a sure way to glam up even a plain outfit.
Cameron Diaz is one celeb fashionista who loves her hats. We take our hats off to her for making such a stylish statement. Cameron is queen of taking a simple casual look and dressing it up with a cute hat. She loves to wear
straw hats, paper boy hats, panama hats and even beanies, and she always looks perfectly polished.
When wearing hats, try to keep the hat as your main focal point. In other words, don't wear overpowering accessories, like long, glitzy earrings, and try to keep your hair style minimal.
Sarah Jessica Parker also loves her hats, although she can really pull off some bold choices. Just think of the over-the-top green feathered hat she wore to the 2008 London Premier of her movie Sex and The City.
Hats are perfect for winter because, while they jazz up your look, they keep your head warm and often keep your hair from flying away in the wind. They are also one of the most cost effective ways to update your wardrobe with the current trends. At the moment the plaid look is very on-trend. So, instead of buying a whole new plaid perfect wardrobe, a plaid paper boy hat would be the perfect way to stay in fashion, while wearing the clothes you already have.
Tips to help you score a hat trick every time:
- Choose a color that compliments your skin tone.
- If you have a long face avoid hats that are too high.
- Likewise, if you have a short face, avoid hats that don't have enough height.
- Your hat should always blend with and compliment your outfit. It should never look out of place, or as though it was added as an afterthought.
- Make sure your hat goes with your hairstyle. If you are wearing a dressy hat, soft, loose curls (Sarah Jessica Parker style) look gorgeous, but try not to overdo the hair.
