Healthy Feet
Our feet are wonderfully flexible, thanks to a network of 26 bones, plus joints, ligaments and tendons, that are also vital for balance. But they are always under pressure, even if we don’t manage the recommended 10,000 steps a day.
Medical conditions can make them hurt or change shape. They can also be damaged by the wrong footwear, walking on hard surfaces, or work and exercise — all of which can affect posture, leading to pain in the knees, hip and spine.
Your pharmacist can advise you about simple problems such as verruccas and corns; a podiatrist can help toenail problems, analyse construct shoe inserts to correct your foot’s position. There are other foot problems which are a little more complex.
Foot problems can affect your whole body’s well-being, so they’re well worth looking after.
