What is the Heimlich Maneuver?

A method used to try to dislodge an object obstructing the airway and causing asphyxia. Sudden thrusts are made up into the angle of the ribs by a person standing behind the victim and encircling the upper abdomen with the arms and clasping the fists in front. The idea is to suddenly compress the air in the lungs and force out the obstruction.
