Herbal Bath: A Big Cup of Tea for
the Entire Body
A herbal bath is like a big cup of tea for the entire body. Soaking in a herbal bath for at least 20 minutes is one of the easiest ways to unwind after a busy day. The warmth of the water helps release tension, and adding herbs to the bath benefits the body, mind, and spirit. Herbs possess therapeutic properties that can soothe your skin and relax muscles and joints, and stimulate the circulation. As an added bonus, many of them also smell good.
There are a number of ways to enjoy an herbal bath. The most common way is to make your own herbal bath sachet with cheesecloth, and fill it with aromatherapeutic herbs. Popular herbs are lavender, lemongrass, sage, and chamomile. Many other herbs are also used, but these are some of the most common.
Simply add the sachet to a bathtub full of hot water. The herbs will slowly steep in the water. Alternatively, the herbs can be added to a pot of boiling water, steeped, and then added to bath water. This will allow for a more strongly-scented bath.
