Sloe (Prunus Spinosa)
The
fruit of the sloe bush is particularly rich in vitamin C. Today we can
purchase sloe in health food shops or pharmacies as a tonic or syrup.
It is excellent as a tonic and acts as a mild laxative for children. Sloes
can also be preserved in sugar and enjoyed by the spoonful as a remedy
for hoarseness.
A decoction can be made from the root skin, a little of which can be
mixed with the preserve and then used as a mouthwash. This helps cure
sore inflamed mouths, inflamed tonsils and hoarseness.
