What is Labyrinthitis?

Inflammation of the labyrinth, the part of the inner ear responsible for maintaining balance of the body. The labyrinth is sensitive both to the position of the head and to any movement that occurs. Inflammation results in vertigo (unpleasant sensations of movement even when the head is still). The symptoms are similar to motion sickness, which also affects the labyrinth.
