What is Laryngitis?
Infection of the larynx (voice box) and the vocal cords produces soreness, coughing and a hoarse voice. Sometimes the voice may be lost completely during the phase of acute inflammation. Laryngitis is due to infection by the same viruses which cause colds and influenza.
