Men Need to Up Their Skincare Regime
While the Metro man is considered the new “real man” of today, many men are still uncomfortable embracing this new way of thinking and living. However, men need to consider the possible damage caused to their skin, especially in winter and to start implementing a regime to protect their skin, like most women already do.
According to the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists (SPSSCS), men are less likely to notice changes to their skin than women. The SPSSCS suggests that even when men notice a change, they tend to ignore it.
Irrespective of gender, the skin is the human body’s largest organ and requires nutrients and replenishment to keep it supple, safe and nourished.
To shave years off the face, the SPSSCS suggests three basic guidelines men should make regular practice in their everyday life:
- Cleanse the skin at least twice a day with a good cleanser that has an alpha-hydroxy acid. This will promote the turnover of cells and minimize razor bumps.
- Shaving with a razor helps to exfoliate the skin. However, it also tends to dry the skin therefore it is important to moisturize as a final step.
- Protect the skin using a moisturizer with an SPF value, even in winter to protect the skin against UVA/UVB rays that damage the skin.
