What is Mitral Stenosis?

Narrowing of the mitral valve of the heart. Over a period of years the diseased cusps of the valve gradually thicken and fuse. The blood cannot flow forward from the left atrium into the left ventricle, the lungs become congested, and blood vessels within the lungs may bleed.
