What is Nephritis?

Nephritis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the glomeruli, or filters, in the kidney. As a result, blood escapes through leaks in the damaged filter bed. This rare condition of the urinary system is not usually caused by germs but by a process called autoimmune disease, where the body develops antibodies which attack its own tissue.
