What is Otosclerosis?

Otosclerosis is a hereditary condition in which there is overgrowth of bone in the to inner ear, which restricts and then stops sound being conducted to the inner ear from the middle ear. The person affected becomes progressively more deaf, often beginning with tinnitus, but surgery is effective.
