What is Parkinson’s Disease?
A brain disorder affecting mainly men and involving progressive loss of muscular coordination and often severe tremor. The outlook varies greatly. The later the onset the less severe it is likely to become. Attempts have been made to treat the disorder by implanting cells from the fetal mid-brain in the hope of replacing missing dopamine-forming tissue. It is still too early to judge the results.
A PET scan can show patterns in the brain
which aid the physician in diagnosing and
treating Parkinson's Disease.
