‘Fit In Your Skin’ Offers Support for Psoriasis Sufferers
Sufferers of psoriasis, a skin disease categorized by uncomfortable, dry and scaly patches on the scalp, ears and skin will be happy to know more support is on the way.
According to the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF), this chronic, yet common disease affects as many as 7.5 million Americans. In addition, those affected by the disease are also prone to developing additional health risks such as heart conditions, heart disease, depression and obesity.
The disease often leaves patients scared with a negative self-image. This is often a result of dealing with uncomfortable red, flaking and scaly skin.
The NPF, in collaboration with Biotech Inc, have launched an interactive, online resource Fit in Your Skin, providing a source of help and support for sufferers of psoriasis.
"We now know that individuals living with psoriasis are at an increased risk for developing other serious conditions, including diabetes and heart disease, so it is important that they take steps to feel empowered to manage their overall health as much as possible," says Paul Yamauchi, M.D., dermatologist and featured Fit in Your Skin psoriasis expert.
