Sleep Boosts Your Immune System
Restorative sleep makes a significant difference to the immune system. In a study of men and women injected with a vaccine against hepatitis A, half had a full night's sleep after immunisation, while the other half were kept awake. After four weeks, the well-rested group had nearly twice the antibody levels of the sleep-deprived group.
To get the most effective sleep, make sure the room is dark enough. The body needs darkness to produce melatonin, a hormone that also helps prevent certain diseases.
