Smart Shampooing for Healthy, Budget-Conscious Hair
If the recession has caused you to cut back on your salon spend, dermatologist Paradi Mirmirani, MD, FAAD shows you can save money without compromising the health of your hair.
Speaking at the American Academy of Dermatology’s SKIN academy, Mirimirani, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California says that you should focus on shampooing the scalp, rather than the entire length of your hair. “How often you wash your hair should be based on how oily your scalp is,” she says.
You also don’t need to use salon quality shampoo formulations. Mirmirani considers brand name drugstore shampoos to be just as good because the manufacturers spend time and money on researching and developing these products and they work just as well.
The key, she says, is “finding the product that works best for you and avoid the temptation to spend more than you have to.”
