Spa Pedicure: Give Yourself a Spa
Pedicure at Home

Short on cash or on a shoestring budget? Don’t compromise your beauty treatments. Instead, learn to give yourself a pedicure at home — spa style.

To get you started on your home pedicure treatment, you will need the following items:

  • A good quality nail file
  • A foot file
  • Nail clippers
  • An orange stick
  • Cotton wool rounds
  • A plastic bowl that is big enough to accommodate one of your feet
  • A smaller plastic bowl
  • 4 tablespoons of scented or baby oil
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • A slice of lemon
  • Rose petals
  • A thick, high quality towel
  • A second towel to put on the floor
  • 2 small, hand towels or cloths
  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail polish in a colour of your choice
  • A magazine of your choice

Enhance the relaxation and rejuvenating spa experience by playing some nice, tranquil music in the background and burning some incense. You want to make the atmosphere as relaxing as possible.

Lets begin. First, soak the face cloths in hot, hot water in the small plastic bowl, while you fill the larger bowl with warm water. Place the bowls on a towel on the floor. In the larger bowl, add in 2 tablespoons of the oil, the sliced lemon and the rose petals.

Remove any nail polish you have on your toes and clip or file them into the desired shape. Next, put your feet (one at a time if they don’t both fit) into the bowl. Let them soak, while you sit back and read your magazine.

After you have soaked them, using the thick towel, gently pat them dry. Remove the smaller cloths from the second bowl, ring them out and put them to one side. Using the orange stick, push your cuticles back.

Now, using the 2 tablespoons of sugar, combine it with the remaining oil to form a scrub and gently rub it into your feet. Using the smaller cloths, wrap your feet and allow them to remain wrapped for about 5 minutes.

When the towels cool down, dry your feet and pat them dry. Then, using a foot file, pass it on any rough areas.

If you want to apply a nail polish, start by applying a base coat and allow it to dry before applying a colour of your choice or second coat of clear nail polish.
