What Are the Symptoms and Causes of Arthritis
Symptoms include pain and limited function of joints, inflammation with joint stiffness, swelling, redness, and warmth, joint tenderness, loss of range of motion and deformity.
The most common causes of arthritis include: a declining ability to repair the collagen-matrix in joints; fractures and mechanical damage (often associated with excessive exercise and extreme competitiveness in sport at a young age, which is linked to repetitive overuse); inflammation; hormonal factors; and genetic predisposition.
Certain forms of arthritis can also be associated with pain and inflammation of the tendons surrounding joints.
