What are Tonsils?
The word tonsils usually refers to the two small masses of lymphoid tissue situated on either side at the back of the mouth (the palatine tonsils). However, another pair occurs below the tongue, which are the lingual tonsils, while the adenoids are the pharyngeal tonsils. All are part of body’s protective mechanism against infection.
