What Is Discrimination?
Discrimination is a sociological term referring to the treatment taken toward or against a person of a certain group in consideration based solely on class or category including:
- Race
- Color
- Gender
- Religion
- Ancestry
- National origin
- Marital status
- Familial status
- Age
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
Under the law, only certain behaviors are considered discrimination and only certain classes or types of discrimination are illegal.
